Tania Marie Hakkim
The performing arts in all of its different forms and facets, brings nothing but joy and happiness to Tania. Raised in a small town in Ontario, Tania put on her first pair of ballet slippers at the age of 5. Since then, her career has taken her in many directions including television, print and stage.Tania’s performance credits include the Toronto production of Disney’s The Lion King, and the original Broadway cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Bombay Dreams in New York City. Additional performing credits include Prix Alliance: Tribute to Don Shipley with choreographer Robert Desrosiers, Fashion Cares, Broadway on Broadway with Wayne Brady, Good Morning America, music videos for artists such as Wyclef Jean, Sky and HEAT, featured dancer in commercials for The Hudson's Bay Company, Scotiabank Carribean, and Ontario Tourism, and television appearance on Degrassi: The Next Generation. Tania's print credits include Intel, Canon Camera, LCBO, Scotiabank Caribbean, Shoppers Drug Mart, MM Crystal: Fine Crystal Jewelry, Cash for Life Lottery, Banglez, George Brown College, and the cover of international magazine, Suhaag: Bridal, Fashion and Lifestyle.
As an instructor, Tania has conducted drama and dance workshops for The Living Arts Centre, designed musical theatre dance programs for York District School Board's Arts Camp, and taught dance at Children's Arts Theatre School, Crunch Fitness (New York) Broadway Series, and schools in both the Toronto District and York Region School Boards. For CATS Mainstage Theatre Company, Tania has choreographed productions of West Side Story, Grease, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Les Miserables, and FAME!
Tania’s dance training has taken her from Ryerson University’s Dance program to Mumbai India where she completed a fine arts intensive. Ms. Hakkim graduated magna cum laude from York University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Fine Arts Cultural Studies, after which she obtained a Bachelor of Education (qualification in Dramatic Arts) from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto; member of the Ontario College of Teachers.
